Family Reading Matters is delivered by the NLT on behalf of the DCSF
baby with book Family Reading Matters is working with local authorities to establish whether a strategic and coordinated approach to literacy enables more parents and carers from disadvantaged families to access support for literacy. The ambition is that this approach will support more families to promote early language development, speaking and listening, reading and writing within the home.

The National Literacy Trust believes that literacy is a fundamental building block for social mobility. Research evidence shows the critical role of parents and families in literacy. This thinking underpins Family Reading Matters.
