Brentford's Kick into Reading
programme came to a stunning close when Pat Ryan led a storytelling
event which featured coaches from both Brentford FC's Football in
the Community (FITC) team and the London Broncos, the rugby league
team who are also based at Griffin Park. Families were not only
treated to stories, but thanks to the generosity of publishers were
able to choose free books to choose and keep. Thanks also to Brentford
FC who provided free matchday tickets for everyone that came along
to the day, and to Alex Strick who took these fantastic photographs.
Read
more about the day itself.
Kick into Reading has seen
stories being told to approximately 900 Hounslow children throughout
February and March 2004. Thanks to Brentford FITC, Hounslow Libraries,
and the London Broncos who have worked really hard to make sure
that the scheme has run successfully, and to Arts Council England
who have funded it.
