Brentford FC

RTG initiatives
The Bees have run a Kick into Reading project for over three years now.

Brentford began running RIF projects in 2004, and worked with over 340 pupils for that academic year. The project was renewed for the 2006/2007 season to work with over 300 pupils.

Brentford FC ran a pilot for the BBC RaW campaign and Reading The Game. The club collected stories from all ages of fans and compiled a book which was launched on December 2005. Read more about this project in RTG News.

Non-RTG literacy activity

The club has a study support centre, whcih is part of the Playing for Success scheme, The Griffin Park Learning Zone.

Brentford FC ran their third annual Big Read involving children from Hounslow Manor School, Lampton School, Chiswick Community School, Brentford School for Girls, Feltham Community College, and Isleworth & Son School for Boys on November 25th, 2006. Read about the Brentford Big Read 2006.

One of the break-out activities saw children in groups of three writing either the beginning, middle or end of a story. By the end of the day, four finished masterpieces were read aloud. Read two stories from the day!
